“Normalization – dedicated to Nikola Tesla” in Gallery Nova in Zagreb

Famous inventor Nikola Tesla, whom we owe many important scientific discoveries, was well known for his saying that he was “proud of his Serbian origin and Croatian homeland”. He was born on 10th July 1856 in village Smiljane in Croatia, and due to the celebration of 150th anniversary of his birth Croatian Parliament has announced this year to be “The Year of Tesla”. The central event dedicated to Tesla is scheduled for 10th July in Smiljane – Croatian president Stipe Mesic, Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and the head of Paliament Vladimir Seks shall open Tesla’s memorial park and a museum in his birth house. However, during 1990s Tesla’s heritage was out of the public and media focus – some say he was temporarily forgotten because of his origins. Such is the view of the curator’s collective Why, How and for Whom (WHW) who recently presented project “Normalization – dedicated to Nikola Tesla” in Gallery Nova in Zagreb.
