Education is the key for development. However most Roma children go to special elementary school in Czech Republic. When they grow up, there are only few chances for them to find a quality occupation. Hence most of them end up in employment agencies, living on social benefits. Their children miss positive role models, the story repeats. It is a vicious circle. A number of non-government organizations try to break it and find a way for Romas to get out of it. Some of them are successful, some of them less. These days they put themselves together to discuss their goals and to hear opinions from abroad. It was when English Peter Mercer from Romani Union was on tour in Czech Republic. He speaks about caravaning Roma in England, about defending human rights and also about the money from European funds that Czech Roma are still unable to draw.
