The Codreanu family

Category: Reflections

The fruits born by the European policies for dealing with asylum seekers and foreigners can render one speechless. For two years now the Codreanu family of four has had to remain in the waiting lounge of the Otopeni Airport in Bukarest.

How we were entertained by "Terminal", the wonderful picture from Steven Spielberg. In the film, Tom Hanks plays a travellerfrom the made-up land of Krakovia who gets stuck at the airport in New York. The film is about the idiocity of segregating people and treatingthem inhumanely as found in the western industrial countries. it is a little known fact that Steven Spielberg based this this film on a real story. It must count as one of the most bizarre episodes in European small-minded beurocracy that one man has had to live in the transit area of the "Charles de gaulle" airport in paris for the last 16 years, as he is, not allowed to enter the country, but also unable or unwilling to return home.

The Codreanu family is a further example:

For two years now the Codreanu family of four has had to remain in the waiting lounge of the Otopeni Airport in Bukarest. What happened and why they refuse to enter the country, listen to the following interview with Gabriela Codreanu, a twentythree year old law student from Germany, her mother country (?).
